Mark Zuckerberg gave a surprise visit to tech innovation centre in Kenya yesterday. He is only 32, has been really successful as a businessman and as a leader. He managed to grow Facebook from his Harvard dorm room into a billion dollar company that we know today. He is now worth $54.4 billion. Here are some life lessons we youths should leaned from him
Simplicity. The quality or condition of being plain or natural.Things that you grew up with stay with you. You start a certain way, and then you spend your whole life trying to find a certain ease that you had.Don’t get me wrong, I admire style and have an appreciation of the finer things in life.
Take risks. Everything he has accomplished is the result of the risks that he took. From a college drop-out that hacked and crashed Harvard University server doing crazy stuff to a billionaire CEO of the biggest social networking website, he proved that taking risks is necessary for success.
Calmness. This is a fancy way of saying that you should not lose your calm when you’re under pressure or in a stressful situation. Instead, he calmly approaches even the most difficult situations because anger doesn’t breed success. Developing this equanimity will helped improve your relationships with colleagues while providing a way to think more clearly about the critical problem or pressures in front of you.
Don’t let anyone tell the story of you. Be your own brand and don’t make mistake to allow yourself to fall into a cycle of bad habits. Don’t allow the outside world to influence your actions and, it is crucial that you set yourself apart from those around you. No one wants to work with someone who is brand. Stop thinking like those around you and purposefully begin to think differently.
Engage people. Individuals of all ages and companies and services of all industries flew Facebook for reasons other than its non-existent cost. Though it sat perched on the internet, it opened up social portals to connect old friends and allow new ones to get to know each other better. Why are we so afraid of Failing and how much are our ideas really worth?
Embrace technology. Facebook never would have happened without a society increasingly reliant on the internet and an accompanying flexibility towards its evolution. Zuckerberg’s project succeeded not only because of its emphasis on community and connectivity, but because it understood the potential inherent in emerging and developing technologies and did its best to take advantage of them.
Pay attention to trends. When it comes to trends, it always pays to seek a grounded balance to prevent becoming a slave to them. As with financial opportunities and growing technologies, one must pay close attention to trends and developments in order to offer an audience what they want as well as what they need.
